Our Story

Where Eldercairn Began

Eldercairn grew out of a straightforward observation: many people living and working in Thailand — both Thai nationals and long-term residents — find it difficult to locate clear, accessible information about how retirement and pension structures function. Official documents can be dense, terminology varies across agencies, and it is easy to feel uncertain about where to start.

Founded in Chiang Mai, Eldercairn was set up specifically to address that gap. Rather than directing individuals toward particular decisions or regulated activities, the organisation focuses on education: explaining what systems exist, what common documents mean, and where official information is published. The aim is to leave participants better informed and more confident in their own reading of the materials that affect their futures.

The name Eldercairn carries a quiet reference to the cairn — the stack of stones used historically as a waymarker on a path. That is how we think about our role: not to choose the route for anyone, but to mark the path so it is easier to follow.

Our Mission

What We Are Here to Do

Our mission is simple: to present publicly available information about retirement structures in Thailand in a way that is accessible, well-organised, and free from pressure. We hold group sessions and workshops where participants can listen, ask general questions, and leave with structured reference materials.

We do not make personal recommendations, assess individual circumstances, or carry out any regulated financial or legal activity. We work carefully to keep our sessions within their educational scope — and we are transparent about that boundary with every participant from the outset.

Eldercairn serves individuals approaching retirement who want a clearer picture of their situation, as well as HR teams and employers who want to communicate retirement-benefit information clearly to their staff. Whatever the starting point, the sessions are designed to be calm, well-paced, and genuinely useful.

How We Work

Our Standards and Approach

Eldercairn holds itself to clear operational standards in how it prepares, delivers, and follows up on every session.

Strictly Educational Scope

Every session stays within a clearly defined informational boundary. No individual assessments, personal recommendations, or regulated activities take place. This is communicated openly to all participants before each session begins.

Source Accuracy and Transparency

All content shared in sessions is drawn from publicly available Thai government and official sources. References are cited clearly in printed materials so participants can verify and read further independently.

Data Privacy and Discretion

Participant information collected during registration is used only to coordinate sessions and is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes. Our full data practices are outlined in our Privacy Policy.

Content Kept Current

Workshop content and reference materials are reviewed and updated on a rolling basis to reflect changes in publicly published information from the relevant Thai authorities.

Participant Feedback Process

After each session, participants are invited to share their observations through a short anonymous form. Responses are used to improve session pacing, materials, and topic coverage over time.

Clear Participant Expectations

We are transparent about what participants will and will not receive from an Eldercairn session. Pre-session communications set out the format, scope, and educational-only nature of the content in plain terms.

More About What We Do

Retirement Information in Thailand — A Field Worth Understanding

Thailand's national retirement framework covers a range of different schemes depending on employment type, sector, and personal circumstances. The Social Security system, the Government Pension Fund, provident fund arrangements for private-sector workers, and the National Savings Fund for informal workers all operate under separate legislation and administrative bodies. For many people, the overlap between these structures — and the different documentation each requires — can be confusing to navigate without a clear starting point.

Eldercairn's sessions are built around the idea that a well-informed person is better placed to ask the right questions of the right professionals. We are not a substitute for qualified pension advice, legal support, or individual case review. What we offer is a structured reading of what the systems look like in general terms — so that when a participant does approach a professional or a government office, they are doing so with a clearer sense of what to ask and what to expect.

The document organisation component of our workshops addresses a practical gap that sits alongside the information gap. Even when people broadly understand what systems apply to them, managing the paperwork — knowing what to keep, how to label it, and where to store it so it is easy to retrieve — can be a source of significant practical difficulty. Our Document Organization Workshop tackles this directly with reusable tools and a calm, step-by-step approach.

For employers and HR teams, the Group Information Programme fills a communication need that sits clearly within normal workplace processes. Helping staff understand what benefits are in place and where they can read more is part of responsible employment practice. Eldercairn supports that communication layer without crossing into individual advice territory.
